Version: 1.7 (using KDE 4.7.3) OS: Linux Load a DVD under KDE, and get the normal device available notification, and then open the wine console ("wineconsole cmd" from command line), there will be no drive corresponding to the DVD, e. g. try D:, E:, ... If you do this under LXDE, wine "sees" the drive. Moreover, if you automount the DVD under LXDE, logout, and login the same user using KDE, wine under KDE will "see" the DVD drive. If you eject and reload the disk under KDE, the drive disappears again. This suggests that KDE is properly notifying the wine server when a disk is ejected, but not when the disk is mounted. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1) Load a disk under KDE. 2) "wineconsole cmd" from a Konsole command line Actual Results: The mounted disk cannot be seen. Expected Results: The mounted disk should have a DOS drive letter assigned and visible.
I should also mention that if the DVD is loaded while using KDE, and you logout and log into LXDE, wineconsole can't see it there either.
Could someone who knows KDE removable volume management please comment on whether this is viewed as a KDE bug or a Wine bug ?
Someone just told me that they believe that KDE has not been automounting removable volumes since v4 or so. If that's true, it explains this, since wine apps cannot "see" a DVD unless it's mounted. I tested further, and if you load a disk, and choose "Open with File Manager" from the KDE device popup, the disk *is* mounted. I also verified, by letting the device popup close automatically without selecting anything, that it was *not* mounted then.
Upon further investigation, I think this is being caused by https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=261376 Closing as DUPLICATE *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 261376 ***
