Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2) OS: Linux I have just updated to openSUSE 12.1, and the migration of all my old KMail e-mail failed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Here’s what I did: 1. Started KMail. 2. Got a dialogue asking me if I wanted to migrate. Answered yes. 3. *Immediately* got an error message saying that migration had failed, and that I should run ‘kmail-migrator --interactive’ manually. 4. Running the command told me that I had already run the migration. 5. A Web search told me I could delete som migration config files to get kmail-migrator to run. 6. Ran ‘kmail-migrator --interactive’, which took quite some time, but finally finished with no error message. 7. Started KMail. Actual Results: The result is that all my old local folders are shown, and in a proper folder hierarchy, but everyone of them is *completely empty*. I have tried right-clicking on the folders and choosing ‘Update Folder’, but this doesn’t have any effect. For all practical purposes, all my e-mail are gone. (BTW, my IMAP account is also shown in KMail, and seems to be working fine.) I do have a backup of my ~ folder, which I can use to experiment with, if that’s any help. Expected Results: All folders and e-mail successfully imported, with the old read/unread status kept. OS: Linux (x86_64) release 3.1.0-1.2-desktop Compiler: gcc
I had the identical problem in openSUSE 12.1. I've switched to 11.4 and updated KDE to 4.7.3 and got exactly the same result. Also the migrator doesn't have a clue what state it's in. After a cancelled migrate from the dialogue window, I tried ‘kmail-migrator --interactive’ and got told "I've already done this, I'm not doing it again" - or words to that effect. Later, after what purported to be a successful migrate (but with only empty folders) a restart of kmail2 brought up the dialogue window again to ask if I wanted to migrate!
This bug has only been reported for versions older than KDEPIM 4.14 (at most akonadi-1.3). Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a recent version of akonadi (part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
