Application: kwin (4.7.2 (4.7.2)) KDE Platform Version: 4.7.2 (4.7.2) Qt Version: 4.7.4 Operating System: Linux 2.6.38-11-generic i686 Distribution: Ubuntu 11.10 -- Information about the crash: - What I was doing when the application crashed: I activated the "Mini-mode" add-on for firefox, which presents a more compact version of the browser window, basically removing toolbars and menus (nice for watching movies, etc.), by hitting ctrl-F11. Kwin immediately crashed. - Custom settings of the application: I've installed mini-mode to Firefox 7 - which requires some tweaking of version numbers, but the add-on works fine under compiz. Kwin crashes consistently every time I attempt to activate mini-mode. The crash can be reproduced every time. -- Backtrace: Application: KWin (kwin), signal: Aborted [Current thread is 1 (Thread 0xb77a6720 (LWP 8668))] Thread 3 (Thread 0xb5ba0b70 (LWP 8669)): #0 0x07372d10 in clock_gettime () from /lib/i386-linux-gnu/librt.so.1 #1 0x03fd27d5 in ?? The backtrace isn't complete, see here: http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports#Backtraces But from what can be seen, it's a dupe of the suggestions. Does that "minimode" trigger sth. like a fullscreen window (w/o titlebar etc.)?
It doesn't remove the titlebar, it just removes the Firefox menu components and toolbars - I think it's all XUL stuff, I'm not even sure KWin why has to do anything other than resize the window. I was trying to generate a better backtrace, but downloading the debugging symbols was taking too long, so I just submitted as-is. I'll regenerate 'em...
"kcmshell4 kwincompositing", 3rd tab, is "suspend desktop effects for fullscreen windows" checked?
Checking that box didn't change the behavior; still crashes. I tried installing debugging symbols, but it still says the backtrace is "probably not useful".
(In reply to comment #4) > Checking that box didn't change the behavior; still crashes. Unchek it again! It doesn't make things any better on the intel chips. Was just a wild guess (i suspected the extension to trigger FFs FS mode and resize the window afterwards)
try installing at least kde-workspace-dbg package in Ubuntu. Anyway it crashes in the driver. Iff you are using nouveau, try switching to the proprieatary drivers.
