Description sl 2011-11-08 18:34:37 UTC
Version: 1.0 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS: Linux

I added a OpenVPN connection in the system settings. The connection type is X.509 With Password. I am able to enter a username but if i press Ok and edit the settings again the username field is blank.

I found out that the username is stored on the first step. Even if it is not displayed. If i open it again and save with the now empty username field the value gets erased.

This behaviour was also described in this forum one year ago but it seems that it was never reported. (german link)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
see details

Expected Results:
The value for username field should displayed and saved.

OS: Linux (i686) release 3.0.0-12-generic-pae
Compiler: gcc

I was not able to reproduce this problem with Plasma NM 0.8.95. If you are using a older version than 0.8.95 please upgrade. Plasma NM for NetworkManager 0.8, like the one in the link you posted, are deprecated and unmaintained.

How can i check the version "help/about/about systemsettings" shows me version 1.0. By the way i use the (k)ubuntu delivered packages.

Even (K)Ubuntu 11.10 ships with an outdate version of Plasma NM. You can check the Plasma NM version by clicking on the plasmoid system tray icon, then on "Manage Connections", then in the "Other" tab, there should be a line that with the version. If there is no version there then you are using Plasma NM for NM-0.8.

Yes you are right. There is no version string in the "Other" tab. So this bug may resolved in a newer release. Hopefully (K)Ubuntu updates nearly to a actual release.
