Created attachment 65314 [details] Screenshot Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.3) OS: Linux Since upgrading from KDE 4.7.2 to 4.7.3 the Device Notifier widget detects some of my fixed hard disk partitions (located below /dev/mapper/ as they are LUKS devices) as removable disks (although they show up with hard disk icons) and will automount them and show them in the device list. Which commits happened since 4.7.2 that may cause this behavior? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Just log in with at least one LUKS device. Expected Results: Partitions residing on fixed disks do not show up in device notifier.

I have same problem. Although not only LUKS devices are showing up. See screenshot.
There we have the culprit: https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kdelibs/repository/diff/solid?rev=e1b3ce8115795e85f13b16011634cad3f8ee1e28&rev_to=d79b9c1d87f27ded12b1c7a46b77032a03c1070b Show LUKS crypted partitions on local hard drive in Dolphin REVIEW: 102529 BUG: 181847
Let me explain a little bit more in detail why the approach taken with 4.7.3 is problematic for me: I use full disk encryption (two encrypted LVM volumes). All of a sudden, all of my mount points (even /) show up in the device notifier. None of them can be unmounted, though as they are in use. I have one extra volume that hosts some crypto keys, which I do not want to automount (for security reasons). With KDE 4.7.3, this partition is automounted and there seems to be no way to disable this behavior. My proposal would be: a) Hide automount mountpoints (as these are mounted during system boot) b) Provide a means to hide other volumes as well c) Make automounting for these volumes configurable
It seems that this issue has been fixed with KDE 4.8.0.
