I cannot reproduce this bug in basyskom-plasma-active-two-meego-usb-live.iso using VirtualBox. Can you still reproduce it?
Verified. Already fixed.
Its still valide for overlays in the top bar, for example when mounting a stick. Tested this morning on MeeGo Devel image from 2012-01-24-12-09
I think this bug depends on the font size used. In the screenshot in comment #2 the font size is big. In basyskom/2012-04-05-08-33-basyskom-plasma-active-testing-meego-usb-live.iso the font size seems smaller and the problem does not happen (at least not here).

notificiations and device notifications are 2 different things, now above commit (kde-workspace update needed) should fix the device notifier one
I don't see any cut-off messages anymore.
