Backspace does move up on level in Dolphin 17.04.0.

Which would be discover now - and it is still valid.
No, Discover already has key bindings for navigating back (and forward): Alt+Left and Back key, if your keyboard has such a thing. Also Escape to close the rightmost view.
Well, I just tried, and it didn't work. Neither the esc, nor the alt-left etc. But as it's a different software, I'll file a new bug report.
