Description Alex Lowe 2011-10-31 05:53:29 UTC
Version: 2.0 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS: Linux

Certain MKV files have built-in subtitles, which Dragon Player happily plays, but will not disable. There is also no universal setting to have subtitles disabled by default even when available.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open an MKV file with onboard subtitles in Dragon Player.
2. Attempt to disable Subtitles from the Settings-> Subtitles submenu.

Actual Results:
The Subtitles submenu is grayed out, not allowing the disabling of subtitles

Expected Results:
A choice between the built-in subtitles and disabling subtitles, as is available in VLC.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 3.0.0-12-generic
Compiler: gcc

It may be useful to know that although VLC handles this correctly, Bangarang (also based on phonon) does not.

The dragon player says it needs additinal packeges and won't play

That is a separate issue that should be addressed by your distribution. You will need to install the extra plugins for your Phonon backend to play the given files.

Alex, is this still relevant with Phonon 4.6.0 or current git? Could you provide a test file?
Comment 5 Alex Lowe 2013-05-26 21:42:50 UTC
It appears to work now. Bug 300967 is blocking me from closing it in the tracker, though.
