Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.2) OS: Linux Hello, I've a simply Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric) install. Started as 11.04, then I just installed kubuntu-desktop onto it. I use Rhythmbox (a music player) that somehow triggers notifications on track changes that the Notifications plasma widget faithfully displays. I'd rather if it didn't. There's no Rhythmbox (or other general, or gnome specific) source in System Settings' Notifications panel, so I can't disable there. And the widget offers very few settings. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Install Ubuntu 10.04, apt-get install kubuntu-desktop, then upgrade to 11.10. Start Rhythmbox (add at least 2 music files into the queue), wait for track change. Actual Results: the Notifications plasma widget sitting on my panel uses a pop-up to inform me of this track change, and there's currently no way to disable this pop-up besides disabling the whole notifications widget. Expected Results: More fine grained control for notifications, and/or better control via the System Settings' Notifications panel. freespacenotifier - 4:4.7.2-0ubuntu1 gir1.2-notify-0.7 - 0.7.4-1 kubuntu-notification-helper - 11.10ubuntu1 libevent-1.4-2 - 1.4.14b-stable-0ubuntu1 libevent-2.0-5 - 2.0.12-stable-1 libknotifyconfig4 - 4:4.7.2-0ubuntu2 libnotify-bin - 0.7.4-1 libnotify0.4-cil - 0.4.0~r3032-3build1 libnotify1 - 0.5.0-2ubuntu1 libnotify4 - 0.7.4-1 libstartup-notification0 - 0.12-1 libzephyr4 - 3.0.1-1 muon-notifier - 1.2.1-0ubuntu1 notification-daemon - 0.7.1-4 notify-osd - 0.9.32-0ubuntu3 notify-osd-icons - 0.7 python-notify - 0.1.1-2ubuntu2 python-pyinotify - 0.9.1-1ubuntu1 update-notifier - 0.117ubuntu3.1 update-notifier-common - 0.117ubuntu3.1 vlc-plugin-notify - 1.1.12-2~oneiric1
http://library.gnome.org/users/rhythmbox/unstable/notification.html.en says "The notification window can be disabled by deselecting the Show Notifications option from the context menu of the icon in the notification area." If this does not work as advertised, please report to Rhythmbox developers via http://projects.gnome.org/rhythmbox/
Hello, Thank you for the fast response. There is no icon for Rhythmbox in the notification area. And actually the same thing is happening for Empathy. (Not listed in Application and System Notifications, yet the widget is displaying them. But at least that has a proper Preferences panel with Notifications tab, and it can "dock" into the notification area.)
