Created attachment 64869 [details] screenshot of the systray Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.2) OS: Linux The screenshot really tells the whole story. Icons are not placed correctly and their icons not visible. The question mark icon is plasmoid networkmanagement the black/white one the hp-toolbox's icon. Even after logging out and back in this state remains. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Put the systray on the desktop. Actual Results: see screenshot Expected Results: clean systray
I can confirm this issue for 4.8.80: when adding the system tray to the desktop, the icons don't fit into the widget box and are partially shown outside the widget. That means the minimum size (which is also the default size) is too small. All icons as well as the little triangle to expand the tray should not be able overlap the widget boundaries. The problem with the icons not showing up correctly, however, is another issue that did not only happen in the system tray. But this seems to be resolved in recent versions of KDE. I added two more screen shots. The first shows the general problem. The widget has the default, i.e. minimum size. Obviously too small. The second screen shot shows what happens when I make the widget taller but not wider. Although all icons fit now, the triangle is still outside the box.

Works in 4.9.90. Other issues have replaced this one.
