Description bugzilla 2011-10-22 21:27:06 UTC
Version: 4.7.0 (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS: MS Windows

Simply starting up e.g. Kontact touch agenda spawned scores of "akonadi_agent_launcher.exe",and a bunch of "nepomukservicestub.exe". My machine got slower and slower and finally became completely unresponsive.
Likewise, in Akregator klicking on "read the whole story" brought my computer to its knees with "kioslave.exe" processes.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
I downloaded all the packages from winkde.org[...]/stable/, and ran the installer "install from local dir". I played with some apps for several days, and then started (I think) Kontact touch agenda.
After rebooting I started Akregator, read some of the KDE messages, and then clicked on "read the whole story".

Actual Results:
In both cases, my computer became slower and slower until it became completely unresponsive. In the first case, I finally tried to kill these processes, but they came back as fast as I could kill them.

Expected Results:
Working programs.

Windows XP SP3

I retried and reproduced the bug. With no other programs running, I started the Kontact touch agenda. The first time nothing happened (occasionally clicking a KDE shortcut doesn't start the program), so after about a minute I clicked again. In the task manager I saw the "akonadi_agent_launcher.exe" multiply. There were a three dbus processes too, but that number stayed stable, and a set of kd4-init (?) processes, but these eventually disappeared. The number of akonadi_agent_launcher kept growing.
In the system tray the icon appeared. Eventually the app window appeared, but never got painted. Some modal error message came up, but that didn't get painted either, so I can't tell what was wrong. Soon my system froze, and after five or so minutes waiting I rebooted.

As indicated earlier, I am unable to provide any more info, and it would be nice if the system would stop bugging me about it.
