Description dartilla 2011-10-20 15:46:42 UTC
Version: 2.7.2 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS: Linux

There is no chance to assign hot key to konsole bookmarks menu.
So bookmarks is useless for those who don't like to use mouse.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Try to open bookmarked directory without touching mouse.
For example I want to change current dir to my bookmark dir. I must:
1) Use hotkey "Activate menu"
2) Press left arrow (So focus on "Help" menu)
3) Press left arrow (So focus on "Settings" menu)
4) Press left arrow (So focus on "Bookmarks" menu)
5) Finally I can fuzzy query my bookmarks.
It is too complicated.

Actual Results:
Konsole goes to choosen bookmark directory.

Expected Results:
I want to change current dir to my bookmark dir without touching mouse. I should:
1) Use hotkey "Activate bookmarks"
2) Fuzzy query my bookmarks.
Konsole goes to choosen bookmark directory.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 3.0.4-calculate
Compiler: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc

FYI, in KDE SC 4.9 there will an option to enable menu acelerators. So you can activate the bookmarks meu using 'Alt+B'. Apparently, the side effect is you can't send 'Alt+B' into the terminal appliation(usually shell).

Glad to hear that. :)

This reduces the required steps, but this is still too complicated if the menu is hidden:

1) Use hotkey "Activate menu"
2) Press "Alt+B" (So focus on "Bookmarks" menu)
3) Finally I can fuzzy query my bookmarks.

This has been fixed in KDE5.

Dartilla, are you satisfied with the way to do this at the current version?

If so I would like to close this issue.

Well, 7 years for this issue..
If you want to close - do it.
However original issue is not resolved at all.

Tested on konsole-17.12.3
1) Actually there are no more fuzzy query while menu "Bookmarks" activated.
There are only arrows "Down" or "Up" avaliable.
2) There are no way to activate "Bookmarks" menu by shortcut if konsole menu is closed.

Hey dartilla,

thanks for the fast answer and sorry for having no solution for you wish.

Unfortunately there are really few active people (if I see it correctly in the commits around 2 to 3) working on konsole (and of course other projects too).

I am not good at coding and am trying to help out be triaging bugs and looking through old ones if the got fixed and if I can help out.

I do not know if you want to contribute to kde or the project but help is really appreciated.

If you have an idea to solve your wish or other stuff feel free and invited to contribute.
Let me know if you need a starting point or help!

Other than that I will obviously not close this issue as it is not resolved.
