Description Kubuntiac 2011-10-14 17:48:38 UTC

OS: Linux

Hi there,

I jump around a number of computers. As such, I'd like to be able to use ownCloud for my Desktop and Documents folder (and maybe even for my Pictures folder) in the System Settings -> Account Details -> Paths KCM. When I try to click the browse button next to a path and navigate to my ownCloud / Webdav folder it either just doesn't load anything, or it tells me I can only choose local paths. Because of this, I've filed this as a wish rather than a bug, although I'm not entirely sure this is right.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Navigate to System Settings -> Account Details -> Paths
2. Click the "browse" button to the right of a path slection field
3. Click on a webdav location in "Places"

Actual Results:
Folder location is either never updated to the webdav location, making it unselectable, or a message appears saying that only local locations may be selected

Expected Results:
I'm able to see my webdav folder, click "OK" and have the path update to the webdav location

Sorry, the freedesktop specification does not allow remote paths, because every application should be able to respect them.

Applications that handle remote paths can have their own setting, or use the Places panel, which can also manage remote locations.

For more information, see http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/xdg-user-dirs

See Christopher's comment, we can't change this. Sorry.
