Description Kevin Bader 2011-10-13 19:38:25 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.1)
OS: Linux

When the Activity Manager is opened, it doesn't have keyboard focus on my desktop computer using KDE 4.7.2 on Gentoo (could not select 4.7.2 in the 'kde version' dropdown).
Strange: On my laptop running 4.7.2 on ArchLinux it _seems_ to have the focus, but nothing happens when typing. After clicking in the search field, typing works as expected.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
open the Activity Manager, either by button in taskbar or by META+Q (default settings).

Actual Results:
Activity Manager does not have keyboard focus.

Expected Results:
Activity Manager's search field has keyboard focus so one can start to type to quickly switch to another activity.

There are 2 related bugs:
bug#246286 - [REGRESSION] Search field focus issues ('add applets' and 'activities' panel)
bug#216789 - Set initial focus to filter bar in the widget explorer

Using KDE SC 4.7.2/Qt 4.7.2 on Gentoo here.
The problem exists for both, the Activities and the Add Widget panel.

Marking this one as a dup of bug#246286 as this one describes the problem for both panels and not only the the Activity panel.
