Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.5) OS: Linux before: KDE started in Auto resolution that suited the widescreen HDMI external monitor was enabled on boot, no problems when entering in KDE, everything displayed as on notebook display (clone set up for HDMI) now: notebook boots to 1024x768 instead of wide resolution, I am not able to change it, even when using different resolution and "Save as default" HDMI acts strange - I need to open the notebook display lid to start signal to HDMI monitor, but sometimes even that does not work and I have open and close the lid multiple times to get the HDMI monitor display work. PS: I work with notebook lid closed as I work solely on external monitor (clone, higher resolution). Something messed up in KDE display. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: boot start KDE Actual Results: non-wide resolution set for notebook no signal to HDMI (blank) Expected Results: wide resolution set up for notebook signal to HDMI (works)
Hi Dan, I had similar problems with my notebook / HDMI settings. One day I had two black screens and could not get the picture back... For me, the solution was to edit file .kde/share/config/krandrrc and set ApplyOnStartup=false All fine since then - KDE detects if HDMI is connected or not and sets resolution accordingly. Just give it a try. Regards Tobias
