Description Daniel Moyne 2011-10-10 20:43:09 UTC
Version: 1.99.0 (using KDE 4.7.1)
OS: Linux

Now when I open my Kmail2 application I have to wait for some time before being able to use it for example collecting my pop mail

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
open my kmails app and wait for it to be usable

Actual Results:
regression compared to classic kmail app that was usable as soon as run

Expected Results:
at least as efficient as previous version ; for me in such state unusable

still some incoherencies in folder names after migration of my kmail data

"still some incoherencies in folder names after migration of my kmail data" ?
could you explain it ?
Comment 2 Daniel Moyne 2011-10-12 09:51:07 UTC
yes now I have a mix between typical english names like "sent-mail" and "boîte d'envoi" for example with noway to get rid of the english folder or renaming the english one ; how can I fix this mess.

I have to say that migration failed at first and then as Kmail2 could not open without crashing after wards I used the following trick :
- new user,
- open kmail2 with no data to migrate,
- move setting data (see in previous message), in root mode between this user and my user,
- migrate data with the main menu.

This is how I colud get a kmail2 working caotically with my data without knowing where is now my data stored.

Pb with "sent-mail" and "boite d'envoi" is fixed in 4.7.3
Sorry this bug was found 1 week ago.
Comment 4 Daniel Moyne 2011-10-12 11:47:13 UTC
any fix meanwhile
Comment 5 Laurent Montel 2011-10-12 11:49:46 UTC
Wait 4.7.3 and redo migration.
Otherwise copy/paste files in new inbox/etc.
Comment 6 Daniel Moyne 2011-10-13 11:33:44 UTC
bug if a redo migration from original Kmail folder I will lose all modifications that have occured since last one !

yes I can move mails in inbox but the problem is how to rename "inbox" in "boîte de reception" ?
Comment 7 Laurent Montel 2011-10-14 09:06:50 UTC
Translated name is i18n.
So install all po files.
It works fine here so you are missing po file

Daniel, thank you for your report. Also thanks to all the commenters for comments.

It is about a version of KMail which uses Nepomuk and is unmaintained. Thus
closing. If you still see performance issues please open new reports. But
please follow the following guide lines to avoid unnecessary work for the
developers:

- Ideally test with KDEPIM and Akonadi 15.08. It contains some performance
improvements like the binary protocol.

- Otherwise at least use KDEPIM 4.14.10 and newest Akonadi 1.13 you can get as
it already contains some performance improvements.

- If you can wait, please retest with KDEPIM and Akonadi 15.12 once they become
available for you. Akonadi 15.12 will contain *massive* performance
improvements implemented by Dan due to new database indexes, optimized queries
and leveled file_db directory. All of these are in master already, so if you
dare use kdesrc-build to compile KF5, kdepim and kdepim-runtime. I am using
this currently and it basically moves the bottleneck to KMail (displaying message list
of huge folder). It is a *huge* improvement. And also Volker and Dan work to improve
message list display speed as well.

- Please also always report only one issue per report and check for duplicates before
reporting. So for all the other issues in the comment, please check whether they are still there with at least KDEPIM 4.14 and open new reports for any issue that still exists and is not yet reported.

Thank you and greetings from KDE Randa Meetings,
Martin
