Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.1) OS: Linux It would be nice, if KDE would have On-Screen-Display of for Wireless on/off, 3G on/off, GPS on/off and (un)docking when changing them via keyboard short-cuts. Reproducible: Didn't try Expected Results: It would be nice if KDE had those OSDs.
There should be also a set of OSDs for switching between different screen configurations via shortcut: - External: Only external screen used - Internal: Only internat screen used - Clone: One screen is cloned - Extentended: Both screens show different content.
I agree, this is a valid usecase for when the wireless/bluetooth are disabled using an external button, will try to implement. Sorry for the delay :/
We already have the OSD service for things like volume, brightness, keyboard layout, so usually things that happen in response to a keyboard shortcut. Usability: what do you think about these suggestions? I could also imagine providing feedback when you eg press media shortcuts to pause a track and so on.

BTW, I saw DBus method related to OSD for keyboard layout; but it seems like Plasma desktop doesn't use it. Am I missing something?
It does here, when I press Ctrl+Alt+K to switch layouts.
(In reply to Kai Uwe Broulik from comment #5) > It does here, when I press Ctrl+Alt+K to switch layouts. Oh! Surprise. Works for me as well. Apparently it works only with "Alternative shortcut", but doesn't work with xkb_group:ctrl_shift_toggle (the "Ctrl+Shift" main shortcut option in layouts KCM). Should I fill a new bugreport then? I guess the logic can be changed (from "show OSD on shortcut" to "show OSD on layout change")
That issue is fixed in Wayland.
