Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.2) OS: Linux My mouse pointer disappears after approximately one second. This makes working very difficult. I need to know where it is without having to move it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: It seems to be permanent. I tried disabling the hardware cursor in xorg.conf but that not only didn't work but also introduced some strange jittering when hovering over menus. I have removed the xorg.conf that I created. Previously I used Gnome and did not have this problem so much (i.e the pointer stayed visible for longer), except for when I was running KDE applications like konsole under Gnome, in which case the pointer disappeared as it does now. Expected Results: The pointer should remain visible. I guess the optimal situation is for the user to be able to specify the time after which it disappears (for those people who want it to disappear). My hardware is AMD Phenom 2 x4 (4GB) with Zotac GeForce 430 (1GB)
There is probably a tool such as "unclutter" installed that does that intentionally. Please ask in an Ubuntu forum, which tool could do it. Konsole blanks the mouse cursor after five seconds of mouse inactivity. If you want that configurable, please report a wish for the Konsole application.
I have also had this problem. Changing cursor themes had no effect. This is most noticable when playing games in which the mouse is stationary and when using Krusader and trying to make selections. This affects me too with Kubuntu 12.04 beta 1 and all latest updates as of 2012.03.12. Unclutter is indeed installed. Killing it solves the issue. The next task is to find out how to change the options so its behavior is suitable. In the mean time I have just removed package unclutter.
Feel free to reopen the report if the problem still happens in recent versions ( KDE SC 4.8.4 or higher) and "unclutter" is not installed. Thanks.
