Created attachment 64213 [details] a paper I've written. please do not share, of course! Version: 2.0.85 (using KDE 4.4.5) OS: Linux Think it's because it was opened in the wrong mode (encoding). You should add a dialog or something really obvious for us stupid users who try to edit something that is opened in read-only mode, as the whole reason for an editor program is to ... edit. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. file opens automatically, or manually. dialog about incorrect encoding does not appear. It appeared once, maybe. 2. try to edit it. Actual Results: editing fails. Expected Results: text should change I REALLY APPRECIATE all the work you've done on Kile! It's a great tool.
