Description Marco Scilironi 2011-09-30 09:46:33 UTC
Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.1)
OS: Linux

When downloading e-mail from all of my pop accounts I get many times the error "Local Folder: Unsupported Type" from Akonadi. Each time the error is displayed, a message is actually deleted from the server and not donwloaded (or not saved in the inbox folder). I checked the maildir hoping it was only a visualization problem: it's not, the messages are lost. This appear to happen randomly on some messages. Every day, something like 30% of the messages are lost this way. Very very bad thing!!! (I didn't realize immediately what was happening, it has brought me in big troubles with a few people!)

Hope it's possible to fix this - and maybe to recover the lost data???

Thanks!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Happens every time I check my e-mails with pop accounts. But only some 30% of the messages are affected.

Actual Results:
Something like 10 out of 15 messages are correctly downloaded. I get five times the error "Local Folders: Unsupported Type" trom Akonadi and 5 messages are deleted from the server, but not saved on the computer.

Expected Results:
All e-mail messages correctly downloades. No error messages.

I've been getting this error for over a year whenever trying to send mail using imap. Messages aren't sent but just moved to the outbox. Not sure if it's related. I haven't found much info on this particular error.

I get the same message (also on POP3) a couple times per week, but fortunately as I was not yet convinced of the stability of the new KMail2, I have set up my accounts to leave all email on the server. (Have to do a regular clean up through the web frontend, but at least I do not have email getting lost)

Still valid ?
Comment 4 Frits Spieker 2012-12-31 11:48:45 UTC
I have not seen this message anymore for a long time.
Personally I am more worried with bug 288364 - '"Retrieving Folder Contents" hanging without showing content"', which is making KMail2 if not virtually useless, than at least "extremely difficult to work with".
