Description K. A. Sayeed 2011-09-25 23:57:10 UTC
Version: 4.4.10 (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

1. This version of KDE PIM (4.6.X) is a BACKWARD step from version 4.3.2. which
had the following features:

1.1. The ability to open, edit, and create multiple contact entries
concurrently.

1.2. The ability to save a partially edited version of a contact entry by
using the "Apply" button.

1.3. The ability to e-mail a contact entry to another party.

1.4. The ability to use other Kontact modules such as Kmail, Calendar, To do,
etc while editing or creating a contact entry without having to close the entry
first.

1.5. Much better "custom fields" interface in the Contacts module.

2. This version of KDE PIM has NONE of the above features which version
4.3.2 had. IT IS A REGRESSIVE VERSION AND ITS USEFULNESS IS GREATLY REDUCED AS
A RESULT. These features need to be REINSTATED in all future versions.

2.3. One would expect that a newer design and architecture would provide a
richer set of features, greater ease of use, and more flexibility, NONE OF
THESE HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED IN THE LATEST VERSION (4.6.X)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Not applicable.

Actual Results:
Not applicable.

Expected Results:
Not applicable.

Changing the bug title to better reflect 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4.

1.5 is too vague, please provide some more information if you have any ideas for improvement.

2 and 2.3 provide nothing useful, the bug tracker is not the place for comments such as these.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kaddressbook (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Comment 3 Denis Kurz 2017-01-07 22:10:29 UTC
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
