Description PC LX 2011-09-19 10:56:47 UTC
Version:           1.0.80 (using KDE 4.6.5)
OS:                Linux

I'm currently having a problem with Kopete not connecting to a MSN/WLM account. When I try to connect to the account, Kopete outputs the following error message:

    MSN: Error: Passport must have at least one '.' after the '@'!

The email/ID for that account is of the form aaaaaaaa@hotmail.com and has you can see, it has a '.' after the '@'!

Kopete reports the status of the account as "connecting" and stays that way.

Even stranger is that I have another MSN/WLM account (of the form aaa_aaaa@hotmail.com) configured and Kopete has no problem connecting to it.

I have tried deleting the Kopete configuration and reconfiguring without success. Also tried another system running KDE but the result is the same.

Using amsn, I can connect successfully to the account. Also, if I try to connect with Kopete while amsn is connected, amsn disconnect saying that a connection was made from another location. If I connect using amsn while Kopete is "connecting" then Kopete changes the account state to "offline".

Starting kopete with the "--noplugins" make no difference.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Start Kopete in a terminal;
2) Configure the account in Kopete;
3) Try to connect;

Actual Results:
The account state stays as "Connecting" and never reaches "Online".
Kopete's output in the terminal shows a line with:
"MSN: Error: Passport must have at least one '.' after the '@'!"

Expected Results:
Expect the account to go "Online".

Kopete's terminal output after the state is changed to "Online":

I suggest that this is the same bug than 285803

MSN messenger was discontinued so this bug is probably no longer relevant.
