Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.1) OS: Linux When downloading mails via a pop3 account, it happens that mails appear twice in .local/share/akonadi/file_db_data but only once in .local/share/.local-mail.directory/ In this case kmail shows the message twice. If you now tell kmail to remove duplicate messages in the folder both messages in kmail are deleted and also both entries in .local/share/akonadi/file_db_data and the one in .local/share/.local-mail.directory/. It may be that this only happens for mails where a filter on incoming messages is applied which directly moves them to another folder. I will verify this and report back. Other maybe useful informations: - My local mail folder is a maildir resource. - I am affected by bug 282160 "akoandi does not delete mails from .local/share/akonadi/file_db_data" - Thomas McGuire said in bug 271231, that this is not a bug of the pop3 resource. Please tell me what additional information may be useful. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: see above Actual Results: some mails are shown twice in kmail Expected Results: mails are only shown once OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.37.6-0.7-desktop Compiler: gcc
Because the severity was changed to normal, I want to point out why I filled this as major. The description of major says "causes data loss" and this is exactly the case if you call "Remove duplicated messages" in kmail, as the duplicated message is completely lost in this case.
I have run now without applying filters directly on downloaded mail and have not seen this issue for several days while it appear regularly several times a day when filters are used. So maybe this is a bug in kmails filters?
An Update, the problem is still present but changed a bit after the update to 4.7.2: Some mails appear still twice first in kmail, but after a short moment sometimes only one is displayed in kmail and the other is gone.
This only happens for filtered messages. So probably a bug with kmails filters, so this is probably a dup of bug 283682 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 283682 ***
I still see this bug in latest 4.8 branch from git. Funny thing is it only happens in mail that doesn't get filtered (stays in inbox folder).
