Description Michi 2011-09-16 10:04:28 UTC
Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.1)
OS: Linux

When I reply to emails and use the preselected identity in the composer, the message that ends up in my sent mail folder does not contain any from: field, meaning the message is shown to have an "unknown" sender. The message that the recipient gets has that information though.
When I change the identity explicitely everything works fine again.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
reply to an email and don't change the preselected identity in the composer window.

Expected Results:
the sender's address should be shown in the saved message

this is still not addressed
Comment 2 Denis Kurz 2016-09-24 18:06:27 UTC
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

I still have this problem, but only with one particular mail account. All my other accounts do not exhibit this behavior.
Comment 4 Denis Kurz 2016-09-25 10:42:19 UTC
Michi, thanks for your effort and feedback.

In which version of KMail did you observe this? Is there anything special about the account that's broken? For example, GMail seems to cause trouble sometimes.
Comment 5 Michi 2016-09-25 15:24:51 UTC
for more than 5 years now.

It's an account on a Strato server.
Comment 6 Denis Kurz 2016-09-25 16:35:56 UTC
I'm sorry to ask again, but which version of KMail do you use? You can find the version in KMail itself (or Kontact, for that matter) and clicking "Help -> Introduction to KMail" in the menu. This information is quite essential, since we lack the manpower to support old versions.
Comment 7 Michi 2016-09-25 16:43:52 UTC
sorry Kevin, I should have been more precise. With now I mean a recent snapshot from git master (~ a week old).
Comment 8 Denis Kurz 2016-09-25 16:48:20 UTC
A one week old git master, awesome. That would be somewhere between 5.3.1 and 5.3.2!

Thanks for your continued feedback :-D setting to confirmed.
Comment 9 Michi 2018-05-25 08:43:49 UTC
I no longer see this happening
