Absolutely not: http://www.kubuntu.org/news/amarok-241-resolution-released. Please read that again, you need the backports-PPA, and it definitely is in there. As I said, the fix is already in Amarok 2.4.1, and 2.4.3 for Natty is to be released any day now.

You do know that you can only install amarok, amarok-common and amarok-utils, then disable the PPA again? No need to update everything, although it just will update your KDE version with a lot of bugfixes. The kubuntu PPAs are officially maintained by the Kubuntu developers an perfectly save.
