Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.5) OS: Linux Crash Reporting Assistant walks doesn't ever ask me about what I was doing when the crash occurred even though I checked the box saying I could provide that info. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1) Do something that opens the KDE Crash Handler 2) Click Report Bug to open the Crash Reporting Assistant 3) Click Next 4) Click 'Yes' for "Do you remember what you were doing prior to the crash?" 5) Check the 'What I was doing when the application "System Settings" crashed' checkbox under "Please select which additional information you can provide:" 6) Click Next (show the backtrace with the message "This crash information is probably not useful" [assuming you don't have the debugging symbols installed]) 7) Click Next Actual Results: Crash Reporting Assistant tells me that "This report does not contain enough information for the developers, so the automated bug reporting process is not enabled for this crash." Bug report is not submitted. Expected Results: I expected to be given a place to type in info about my bug (similar to this form) where I /could/ provide useful information and have my bug report submitted without having to create an account on this site and do all this manually. If you're not going to let me do that without debugging symbols, at lease don't tease me by making me go through your stupid wizard. Just don't bother with the Crash Reporting Tool in the first place unless debugging symbols are installed. Brief answer: DrKonqi uses a *very basic logic* to determine if it allows the user to report the bug or not. It uses the rating of the backtrace and the checkboxes that you mentioned. As the backtrace quality decreases, it needs more checkboxes to be marked (and that represents more context information the user can provide just to compensate the lack of information inside the backtraced) This is done just to decrease the amount of reports which are not completely useful, as we don't have enough manpower to process all of them. I'm sorry that you got angry at the application. It was on my plans to try to rework the assistant and improve those rough edges (or give proper explanation to the users...), but currently I don't have the time I would like to work on DrKonqi. BTW, I think there is a similar report. I will search it later to merge them. Regards Dario A.Rodriguez Former DrKonqi dev
