The taskbar, newly started

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS: Linux

After some day's activity (opening/closing windows), the size of the tasks start to shrink, spaces begin to crop up, see attached screenshots. When restarting the taskbar, it's OK for a while. Could not pinpoint any specific setting to cause it.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open a taskbar and use the desktop for a few days.

Expected Results:
the size of the tasks should depend only on the number of the tasks
