Description Paul L. 2011-09-05 03:36:31 UTC
Version: 4.5.3 (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS: Linux

By default, KMyMoney launches with it's window anchored to the left-side/upper-left corner of the display. I don't like that, as I have my Conky monitor in that location.

I reposition and resize KMyMoney to the right-side/upper-right corner (254,0 and 1346,865 on my laptop) and right-click on the title bar and select Advanced > Special Application Settings... > Size & Position and check both Position and Size and select Force and set the values. I click OK and Save. Close KMyMoney and relaunch. The KMyMoney splash screen appears as tiled, with in my case, three rows of four splash images.

This is cosmetic and only affects my sensibilities, however, it should not happen and might indicate an underlying issue that could possibly affect other aspects of the application.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
See my details description above.

Actual Results:
Tiled KMyMoney splash screen upon launch.

Expected Results:
A single, centered, splash screen image.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.38-11-generic
Compiler: gcc

I get the same behavior with 4.6.0 on Gentoo, under KDE, but I strongly suspect this is an issue with the window manager, and not the application itself. Have you tried the same settings on other applications?

I hadn't thought of that. Tried it with Amarok (which has a splash screen option you can check to be displayed at launch), and forcing the window geometry results in the same behavior - the splash image is tiled as with KMyMoney. So it does appear that it isn't the application, but the Window Manager.

I'm changing the status of this bug to RESOLVED and will open a new bug report against the Window Manager.

You could have simply changed the product of this entry to KWin ...
