Description Pascal d'Hermilly 2011-08-29 09:09:41 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.3)
OS: Linux

When you run out of disk-space in your home folder where you settings are stored plasma-desktop will start to crash repeatedly.
I guess it's a question of not being able to write configuration-files to the disk. However since the settings are centralized in one file could a central check not be made to ensure that there was disk-space and otherwise cache/stall the writing.
It can become quite hard to clean your disk when plasma is repeatedly chrashing.

[Comment from a bug report cleaner]
Bug 245173 is a fixed bug about a crash when the "tmp" directory was full (I guess that if you have / and /home on separate partitions and / was not full, then this is not related to that bug)
Comment 2 Pascal d'Hermilly 2011-09-11 21:04:43 UTC
My / and /home are seperate partitions.

Hello!

This bug report was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this bug is already resolved in Plasma 5.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this bug report. If the issue described here is still present in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!

Nate Graham
