Description boospy 2011-08-18 21:49:02 UTC
Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS: Linux

when I'm logged in KDE for a few days, RAM consumption from KDED4 increases continuously. After a few days then I have to relogin. I have this problem for many months. The Problem is SSH. For example: Nagios checks KDE4 Deskopmachines (Harddisk, Sensors, HDDTEMP, ....) by SSH, so many logins are required. Every time you login by SSH the Ram consumption goes up about 0.7 MB (KDED4)
SFTP in KDE ist not the problem

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Login by SSH 10 times, then RAM consumption from KDED4 goes up about 8MB, i can reproduce this on many machines

Expected Results:
.

Usesing a 64bit System

Sorry for the late reply. I have yet to find someone who knows the relation between SSH and kded4 modules.

In the meantime, if this is reproducible, you could try finding the offending kded4 module. For more information, please see http://kdepepo.wordpress.com/2011/05/11/troubleshooting-kded4-bugs/

Andreas, I have no clue who to assign this bug to, but you might know if there is a relationship between SSH logins and kded4.

I don't understand the problem. You login via ssh to a machine running KDE or vice versa. Could you please be more precise. I don't know how openssh should be related to KDE.

Sorry for the late reply. :) here again in short form. The simplest way to test.

- Install sshd und host
- login on localhost with an user for example

ssh root@localhost
(give password)
- logout

You repeat this 10 times. And look again at RAM consumption of the kded4.Here:

Before: 47.84 MiB: kded4
After: 48.67 MiB: kded4

Hope that helps.
Greetings boospy
