Description Sven Klomp 2011-08-14 14:11:58 UTC
Version:           4.7 (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS:                Linux

I added an new IMAP account which is hosted by Domain Factory using sslmailpool.ispgateway.de
Authentication works without problems and KMail shows the correct folder tree. However, no message is shown in any of the folder.
I also tried to configure disconnected IMAP. Again, the folders are shown but not the mails. Interestingly, KMail does not try to download any mails: I watched the traffic, but almost nothing is downloaded altough the IMAP account contains approx 2GiB of data.

Thereafter I tried it with another account from another hoster and everything works as expected.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Create IMAP account using Domain Factory as hoster.

Actual Results:
No mails shown in folders.

Expected Results:
Downloading a lot of data and showing the mails.

Please attach a copy of the commands sent between akonadi and the server.

The same imap-account works fine in http://trojita.flaska.net/ .

akonadiconsole shows this:
>AgentBase(akonadi_imap_resource_2): Select failed, server replied: A000044 NO Unknown namespace.
>NotificationManager::notify ( Collection (37, .Sent) in collection 35 modified parts (timestamp) )
>AgentBase(akonadi_imap_resource_2): Select failed, server replied: A000056 NO Unknown namespace.
>NotificationManager::notify ( Collection (35, .INBOX) in collection 34 modified parts (timestamp) )

Does Kmail2 support IMAP namespaces?
Comment 4 Sven Klomp 2011-11-04 09:00:59 UTC
I solved the problem!
The Autenthication has to be changed to "Clear text" instead of "Plain"!

Let me summarise the Problem, so maybe someone can solve this bug (I still thing it is a bug, since I don't get an error message):

If I ste the Athentication to Plain, the authentication works, since the folder structure is downloaded from the server. After synchronisation, all folders and subfolders are available within kmail. However, without any mail.

If I change to "Clear text", everything works as expected.

In case it is of interest:
* my login name contains an @-symbol
* I'm using SSL/TLS at port 993

If anyone is interested to go deeper, I#m happy to provide an Domain Factory mail account for tests.

I forgot to mention that this problem also occurs in version 4.7.3.

Hi,

same bug with me. After automatic import of my old mails and mail accounts I got this message that from my perspective did not make sense. Therefore I stopped working with KMail for three months, thinking "the hell" what happened to this tool.

Now KMail 2 gets its last chance befor I skip to Thunderbird.

@ Sven, thanks a lot for the workaround!

Yes this must be a bug because it had worked before in KMail and I had no problems in Thunderbird on Windows.

Regards Martin

(...having used KMail since 1999 with thousands of local mails and more than ten different accounts, wondering why the quality of KDE PIM lowered so much in the last two years and what this all is about)

This is:

Version 4.7.3
Unter KDE 4.7.3 (4.7.3)

By the way, why is this KMail 4.7.3? I thought we talk about KMail 2!

I confirm this bug for kmail 4.10.1 and a dovecot 2.0.19 IMAP server.
Comment 9 Denis Kurz 2016-09-24 18:10:20 UTC
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Comment 10 Denis Kurz 2017-01-07 21:39:04 UTC
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
