Description Alexander Fieroch 2011-08-10 18:37:58 UTC
Version: 1.9.0 (using KDE 4.6.5)
OS: Linux

It would be great to have a checkbox next to the rating filter that allows to include or exclude images that are not rated.
Currently if one selects a rating filter of e.g. 3 stars then the not rated images are not shown. But sometimes it is good to see all filtered images + yet not rated images.
For example: If you have a hugh collection of new photos after holidays and you would like to have a dia show for your friends but have no time to rate all photos until the date with the dia show, you could rate just the bad photos with one star and the photos that are ok (but you don't want to show) with two stars. Set the filter to three stars and include not rated images - the dia show can begin.
Having more time you can rate the rest of the photos using the filter of three stars for decreasing the large amount of images to have a better general view.

Reproducible: Always

Right click on rating filter widget, there is a pop-menu for you.

In 2.0.0 release, i moved all filters in a dedicated sidebar with more settings visible.

Gilles, you mean the menu with "Greater Than or Equals Condition", "Equals Condition", and "Less Than or Equals Condition"? That's not what Alex is looking for (if I understand him correctly). I think a new "Does not Equal Condition" would elegantly cover the holiday photo scenario he describes.

But of course the new "Pick" and "Colour" labels in DigiKam 2.0 offer endless new possibilities anyway. To cover Alex' use-case: first mark all images as "accepted" (green flag), then choose the images you don't want to present (1 star), then remove their "accepted", or change it to "rejected" (red flag). Now you can filter for "accepted" images in your slideshow.

Now I tried digikam 2.0 with the new color labels and the filter in the sidebar, but I still do think it is usefull and much easier to have an additional filter checkbox in the filter drop-down menu called "include unrated images". This would allow to filter for already rated (greater-equal) images and in addition to see the still not rated images.

Mohamed,

Another task for you about Not rated feature, this time in filter view from right sidebar.

What do you think about ?

It's already there, If the user clicked on the filter options beside the
rating widget, and checked "Less than or equal" and leave the rating widget
as is, it will show only non rated items, Right ?

In theory, it must work.

Perhaps end users want an option more visible than drop down menu plus special settings. A button (as with other Labels) to show non rated images will be more homogeneous and more suitable, in GUI viewpoint...
