Version: 2.4.1 (using KDE 4.7.0) OS: Linux Collation that ignores "the" is a bad idea for music collections that are very likely to be international (I have "Die Ärzte", "Die Moulinettes", "Die Sterne" followed by "The Drums"... and that's just two languages taken at random). So please do make the type of collation configurable: at least with the option to set it to strict alphabetisation (which I would advocate to be the default for the reason above) and maybe, in addition, with a configurable list of ignored prefixes. (Note that there is a recent bug that claims the ignoring of "the" does not work (#261184). I can confirm that it does on my installation - unfortunately!) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have entries with "definite articles" in different languages in the collection Actual Results: 2. Be surprised Expected Results: 2. Don't be surprised. See a consistent language-agnostic collation.
Id3-tags have special tags for sorting. For example, the artitst could be "Die Ärzte", but the tag that is used for sorting has "Ärzte, Die" So, would you rather change your feature request to: "Amarok should support sorting tags"?
