Description kunirraj 2011-08-08 16:26:05 UTC
Version: 2.1.0 (using KDE 4.6.2)
OS: Linux

if I drag and drop a face thumbnail, whether unknown or recognized, on any of the people tag (ones that appear in left sidebar under people tab under my tags) does not update face tag, however it does assign a standard tag to image. Corresponding face tag in image is not updated. it is bit unexpected out come.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on people tab in left sidebar
2. Click on a face tag under 'My Tags', may be 'Unknown'
3. Drag and drop a thumbnail on to any other tag under 'My Tags'

select a face thumbnail, may be from 'Unknown'

Actual Results:
Face tag in the image remains unaffected.
Image is assigned a standard tag like 'My Tags/People/Foo'

Expected Results:
Face tag in the image should update to tag on which face thumbnail was dropped on.

Hello Gilles,

This is still valid for
Build date: Apr 14 2019 (target: RelWithDebInfo)
Rev.: 33917d60ecad37ad46ef9cea83db28c2f058cc13

I noticed couple of differences in behaviour:

a) It is not possible to drop thumbnail on to a people tag, under people
tab, which is unselected. If, for example, "People" tag is
selected, and a face thumbnail is dropped onto it, it would assign
standard tag People to image, just as before.

b) A single face thumbnail can no longer be grabbed for
drag-and-drop, one has to select at least two thumbnails.

Hmm, the people tab is a filter, so I can not actually assign a different name to Drag&Drop this then assign the images. To the right side bar it works. However, the whole thing makes no sense, if multiple facial regions exist on the image, digiKam can not know which face to the tag should be assigned.

To b) I can not reproduce here, it can also be grabbed only one image by Drag&Drop.

IIRC this relates to "face thumbnail" not image thumbnail. Face thumbnails displayed by clicking 'Unknown' tag needs to be selected and dropped onto a tag other than 'Unknown'.

Maik,

This is realistic to implement D&D with face thumbnails view ?

No, it's not realistic to implement D&D from the people sidebar. I close the bug.
