Created attachment 62648 [details] session management settings Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.3) OS: Linux My KDE sessions options are set to restore previous session (see attached image). If I quit/kill KDE by ctrl-alt-backspace and then restart it, then often the konqueror windows are not restored properly. Out of 2 konqueror windows, only one gets restored. Sometimes at startup it asks to restore one of the 2 konqueror windows, but ends up creating a duplicate of an already restored konqueror window. The behavior is erratic and inconsistent. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: See details. Actual Results: As KDE restart, some konqueror windows are lost while others are duplicated. The behavior is unpredictable. Expected Results: The previous session should be restored as is.
i can confirm the behavior. but it has nothing to do with ksmserver; it's "only" a konqueror bug. needs further triaging (check for dupes).
This _MIGHT_ be a specific case of a larger context bug I'm encountering. When I log in to KDE4 I don't see the previous session, I see an earlier session. The last session is not being saved properly. Position of Widgets, 'previously used' in the menu ... they all date back to the first session after I wiped my ~/.kde4/share hierarchy to solve another problem.
I have often experienced the erratic behavior described by the OP, the last time no later than today. I am surprised it is not more widely reported.
Hi all, I have been working on the session restore code and found this bug. The changes should fix this if it is not already fixed. Can any of you confirm if this is still a problem? If not, I will go ahead and close.
Sorry, I got confused by search results, and thought this was a konqueror session manager bug. De-assigned myself
This bug was incorrectly assigned as applying to "konqueror". It is also 14 years old. I am changing the status to NEEDSINFO. If this is still an issue, please confirm it. But I'm guessing this should just be closed
