- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Plasma crashes every time I try to shutdown or restart.  The screen goes black except for the cursor, the error dialog pops up, and then a few seconds later the screen returns but all the desktop effects have been shut off.  Lately I've noticed that the window decorations have not been restored after the crash.  Eventually the system shuts KDE down and shutsdown.

I have the desktop cube switching effect running, some translucency effects on the window frames, set to use OpenGL.  System uses Intel graphics with 128MB  share RAM, so I know it suffers performance issues, but it was working until I updated about 7/27/11

The crash can be reproduced every time.
