Version: 1.99.0 (using KDE 4.7.0) OS: Linux it's more a question, if kmail2 could handle winmail.dat attachments in a generic way without relying on tknef or similar Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: ask windows user to send multiple documents Actual Results: winmail.dat as attachment, can't be opened Expected Results: see the content of winmail.dat OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.37.6-0.5-desktop Compiler: gcc
is it a missing feature or a bug ?
well users perceive it as bug if they can not open an attachment the problem is also that the sender does not know and see, that he is producing an attachment "winmail.dat" see the reason here http://email.about.com/od/outlooktips/qt/Prevent_Winmail_dat_Attachments_from_Being_Sent_in_Outlook.htm
last night I committed a fix that makes KMail2 capable of looking at winmail.dat contents inline. current plans call for not resurrecting the standalone ktnef program
