Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.0) OS: Linux In kickoff the icons structure is too static. For example if an user want to add a new and personalized icon he must start kmenuedit from shell and edit the new icon. I think that inserting button directly in kickoff for creating a new icon is a good idea. On anther possibility is to drag and drop icons form desktop directly to kickoff. And so on .... Reproducible: Didn't try Expected Results: A more flexible kickoff menu.
I partially agree with the OP. KDE should have at least by default a menu item for "kmenuedit". When you use Plasma Netbook you cannot reach it without knowing the exact program name. When you type "menu" in Search and Launch, kmenuedit should come up. See also http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=96353
That's the first and minimalistic improvement. But I think that adding a visible button associated with kmenuedit it improve the usability. Another possibility is to add a context menu in Kickoff ... Having an item in the right-click context menu would be also nice. In Netbook Plasma, when I right-click on the "Search and Launch" screen, a context menu pops up which contains the following items: - Run Command... - Add Widgets... - Lock Screen - Leave... - Configure Search and Launch... So add a new item "Add/Remove Application Launcher" or similar which opens kmenuedit ??
Hello! This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
