Version: 1.6.1 (using KDE 4.6.0) OS: Linux In System Settings -> Common Appearance and Behaviour -> Associations for "Known Types" text it is entered "R-Datei", with pattern *.R description: "R-Programm" application preference order: XEmacs KWrite, Emacs and for "Embedded": "Show file in separate viewer". When clicking on an .R file now Dolphin opens --------- Install Additional Software - Dolphin There is no special application for files of the type R-Programm (text/R-Datei). The file can be opened in a more generic application as file type plain text document (text/plain), or you can try to install a specialized application for file type R-Programm (text/R-Datei). Do you want to try to install a specialized application? ------------------------- So it knows that this is a type with special information, however it just ignores the programs one has listed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Just enter the new type *.R, with XEmacs as application, and try to open an *.R file. Actual Results: After clicking "No" it opens the file with XEmacs (since this is the default for text). AFTER CLICKING "Install", it happened two times now that the desktop crashed in the form that ALL menus became, one after another, after a usage, purely black boxes. Expected Results: XEmacs should be called. OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.39.3-0.5-desktop Compiler: gcc There are actually two bugs here: the one which is completely reproducible, the ignoring of the registered application for *.R, and the second one, a severe bug, the crash after clicking on "Install software". I'm now sure whether this bug is reproducible; if yes, I'll submit a separate bug report.
