Version: unspecified (using Devel) OS: Linux As the subject says, if i open dolphin and try to upload a file to a remote server over my lan (1gbps link) the speed is about 1.2MBps, sometimes it goes to 12MBps. But the same file copied via sshfs (with dolphin) is faster, about 33MBps Thunar reaches the speed of about 50MBps. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: upload a file via kio sftp over a gigabit link and observe how slow it is. do the same with thunar and see that is much much faster Actual Results: 1,2MBps or sometimes 12MBps Expected Results: at least 50MBps (thunar reaches that)
Thanks for reporting this bug. Please open a bug upstream at http://red.libssh.org/ and request async write support for sftp. Thanks!
Previous kde releases (4.6.3) uploaded the same file at about 30MBps. Do you still think that the issue is entirely with libssh or maybe something else changed and make the thing even worse?
Just made another try... Download speed has dropped to ridicolous speed too 1.7MBps. I forgot to say, 4.6.5 release
The code uploading and downloading a file in KDE 4.6 hasn't changed since more than a year.
The only change between 4.6.3 and 4.6.5 is a bugfix to the rename function. http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kde-runtime.git&a=history&h=24053d80ac862a2b41088476bb087be5e454b338&f=kioslave/sftp/kio_sftp.cpp
You are 100% right, i apologize. I checked the last upgrade of libssh in my installation and downgraded it from 0.5.0 to 0.4.8 and i've the speed i had before.
