When trying to select a non-ucs2 character, I can select a half of it, that does not make sense.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Try e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linear_B#Ideograms there is e.g.

Oh, it seems to be a bug in Bugzilla, it cannot handle it, I inserted the goblet and after that Bugzilla truncated the message. Try selecting the goblet in the Wikipedia article, you can get a half of it.

You mean the line with "U+100E1  202   pōculum  GOBLET?" in it ?
The first column here on my system shows nothing. What font do I need to display it ?

Hm, dunno, I have liberation, freefont, dejavu, standard X and texlive fonts.
