most likely an upstream bug, please note your GPU, driver & mesa version.

ThinkPad T400 w/ integrated intel GM45, i915 kernel module, i965 mesa module, classic driver, mesa 7.10.3, xorg 1.10.3, intel driver 2.15.0-203-g212fa98

most likely a driver bug, with recent versions kwin does no longer use indirect rendering for mesa drivers.
