I'm trying to reproduce this bug. Since you mention another bug, I have some questions; does it happen when you add "Apps" or "Widgets" to your current activity? I can't reproduce it. Nor looking for random documents makes plasma-device crash. Nevertheless, I was able to reproduce bug 283086 (looking for apps' exact names makes plasma-device crash), which sounds similar to this bug. Please provide more details.
