digikam 1.2 is installed and working great on my gnome based Ubuntnu Mint 9 computer. I installed thru resource manager. I love digikam.

Being a newbie please direct me to the place with a detailed line by line explanation of how to install 1.9 on my gnome. I understand line commands but need the correct make and install for main program and all libraries (both KDE and kipi-plugins).

Thank you very much and keep up the good work!

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
I have downloaded and un-tarred the 1.9 tarball and kipi plugins but don't know what to do now?

Expected Results:
Bits and pieces of instructions are scattered on the web but no place seems to have it all. I found reference to a tutorial from digikam that explained how to install 1.9 next to previous stable release but when I went to that URL, it said ACCESS DENIED.

Look README files from tarballs.

reporting a bug report about compilation operation is not the right place. Please, use users mailing list
