Description ash 2011-07-09 10:33:55 UTC
Version: unspecified
OS: Linux

KDE 4.6.90 4.7 RC1
xf86-video-intel 2.15.0-2
intel-dri 7.10.3-1
Intel I965 graphics (Dell optiplex 745)

The display flickers momentarily to desktop background or stuff displayed recently (tuff stored in video memory ?)

This happens when desktop effects are on, i have the following effects switched on : Zoom, Dashboard, Explosion, Fade, Glide, Highlight, Login, Logout, Minimize, Screenshot, Slide, Sliding popups, Taskbar thumbnails, Translucency, Wobbly, Startup feedback.

It happens quite randomly

I tried to disable some of the effects and then enable back one by one, the overall frequency of the flicker dropped but did not disappear completely, which suggests that it is related to more than one effect, and it is hard to spot which one causes significant part due to the lower frequency after disabling some

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Enable desktop effects as above, use computer

Actual Results:
Occasional flickering

Expected Results:
No flickering

- The entire screen or only some (updating) regions?
- Do you use GLES, OpenGL 1.x or 2?
- What if you disable _all_ effect plugins (esp. blurring)

Ok, sorry - "GLES or OpenGL" ;-)

please answer the questions, otherwise we are not able to investigate the issue. As that report is rather old please also provide the info whether it is still an issue with the latest versions of KDE SC.
