Created attachment 61557 [details] snapshot Version: 2.4.1 (using KDE 4.6.4) OS: Linux Artists starting with "The" are incorrectly listed according to the second word in their name. As shown in the snapshot, I wouldn't expect to find "The Mayan Factor" after "Matthew Good", nor "The Pineapple Thief" after "Periphery". Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: . Expected Results: . OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.38-CHAKRA Compiler: gcc
Well, "Pineapple" absolutely DOES go after "Periphery" :) When you organised your tracks, did set "Ignore "The" in the artist names"?
(In reply to comment #1) > Well, "Pineapple" absolutely DOES go after "Periphery" :) > > When you organised your tracks, did set "Ignore "The" in the artist names"? No, I wouldn't even know how to do it (can you explain it, please?). I'm sure that the previous version didn't have this issue.
Right click on any track or album in the collection, select Organize Files and there you have the option.
I followed your suggestion, but the only change is in the way files are organised physically on the HD. In fact, physical folders got renamed, but artists in the collection browser are still incorrectly listed.
@reporter: it is a design decision to ignore "The " when sorting artists in the collection browser. Personally I also don't like it, but that's the way it is atm. ;-) We even have complains from people for whom Amarok seems to sort without ignoring the article, see Bug 261184. It might be worth considering to make this a config option. But please file a fresh bug report for it. Bug recycling is a bad thing. I'd suggest closing this one as INVALID, as it is the currently intended behaviour.
