Version: 4.5 (using KDE 4.6.2) OS: Linux KMyMoney loads OK and displays account total but previous accounts now disappeared. Tried to get prog to load previously downloaded ofx files which contain accounts' details, but displays folder as empty. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Load program no accounts Expected Results: Expect programme to load account files and display them.
Could you please check whether libofx is installed on your system? If you can remove libofx, and the package manager does not want to also remove KMyMoney, then KMyMoney has not been compiled with libofx dependency. In this case, ask your package distributor for corrected packages.
Any news on this?
Thank you for your assistance. Unfortunately my level of expertise in Ubuntu is so low that I could not understand or do the repair you recommended, regards Donald Wallace. > Message Received: Sep 28 2011, 07:53 PM > From: "Thomas Baumgart" <ipwizard@users.sourceforge.net> > To: don66@fsmail.net > Cc: > Subject: [Bug 276928] After upgrade to system, KMyMoney no longer recognizes *.ofx files. > > > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=276928 > > > Thomas Baumgart <ipwizard@users.sourceforge.net> changed: > > What |Removed |Added > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Status|NEEDSINFO |RESOLVED > Resolution|INVALID |WAITINGFORINFO > > > > > -- > Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email > ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- > You reported the bug. > >
Don, First, after the upgrade, when you run KMyMoney and open your existing .kmy file, is everything OK or not? Can you clarify what you mean by "loads OK and displays account total but previous accounts now disappeared" since if the account total balance is OK on the home page (is that what you mean?) then the account information is there - it is just somehow being hidden. Regarding the ofx import problem, can you specify in more detail exactly how you tried to import the ofx file, and which folder is empty? Also confirm whether or not you get any error message. Regarding Comment #1, after you answer these questions, we can give you more detailed instructions about what to try. (Also confirm what application you use to install and delete any packages: Synaptic, Ubutnu Software Center, something else?)
Jack, Thank you for your assistance. Your advice has helped me make some sense of what the "updated" version has been doing. As you say, there are indeed files/Ledgers in the program and I have found them, but when I click on the current downloads from my bank I see that the KDE logo comes up and says loading and eventually this goes away. So I open up the ledger and there is no update so I don't know what the program has done with it. I'm sorry if this sounds awful stupid but this program is quite different in style from what I originally used. I use the Ubuntu Software Centre for the update, as that's what the system prompts me to do. I hope this helps. I'm not sure if the program itself is your area, and if not I will appreciate that you cannot help anymore, regards Donald (DON) Wallace > Message Received: Sep 28 2011, 11:02 PM > From: "Jack" <ostroffjh@users.sourceforge.net> > To: don66@fsmail.net > Cc: > Subject: [Bug 276928] After upgrade to system, KMyMoney no longer recognizes *.ofx files. > > > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=276928 > > > > > > --- Comment #4 from Jack <ostroffjh users sourceforge net> 2011-09-28 22:02:11 --- > Don, > > First, after the upgrade, when you run KMyMoney and open your existing .kmy > file, is everything OK or not? Don, (No need to quote the previous message, since it includes a link to the bug itself, which has the entire thread easily available.) With this additional information, it seems there may be several different issues at play. Here are a list of things to check. -- What version of KMM does the Software Center say is installed? Then, run KMM and see (Help/About) that the version matches. -- Confirm that when you run KMyMoney, you do see all your old accounts and that the data in the ledgers is correct. -- instead of clicking on the ofx file, right click and see if you can tell what program it wants to use to open it - what is the first one under "open with?" Although it "should" be KMyMoney, it might be using something else - and your data is being imported into some other software. (not likely, but who knows) KMyMoney OFX import is usually at least a little interactive (confirming which account to use) so the fact that it's not doing that says either its using the wrong program, or something else. -- Run KMyMoney, and use the File/Import menu, select OFX, and then import your OFX file that way. Then you are more likely to actually see any error messages. -- Confirm whether you are actually running Ubuntu or Kubuntu. KMM will work under either, but Ubuntu is Gnome based instead of KDE, and that can add additional dependency issues. What we're trying to figure out is whether you have a packaging issue, a configuration issue, or a really broken software (either KMM itself, or one of the dependencies.)
Jack, Thanks for all your help. I have found a libofx package and that seems to have solved my problems. It's still a little funny loading the files but nothing I can't get round, regards Don > Message Received: Sep 28 2011, 11:02 PM > From: "Jack" <ostroffjh@users.sourceforge.net> > To: don66@fsmail.net > Cc: > Subject: [Bug 276928] After upgrade to system, KMyMoney no longer recognizes *.ofx files. > > > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=276928 > > > > > > --- Comment #4 from Jack <ostroffjh users sourceforge net> 2011-09-28 22:02:11 --- > Don, > > First, after the upgrade, when you run KMyMoney and open your existing .kmy > file, is everything OK or not? Great that you got it working. However, if the libofx that Ubuntu Software Center pulls in as a dependency for KMM is wrong, then that is a bug in the package that Ubuntu needs to fix, but only if all your packages are coming from official Ubuntu repositories. If you have added any others (such as from launchpad) then the problem may be there. It's not necessary for us to know, but it would help when this bug is closed if the complete explanation were available. (You could also just list the version of ofxlib that works for you, and where you got it.)
Jack, I have come to the conclusion that all my problems were due to what I used to call operator error. I can use the .ofx files no bother now, and I'm not even sure that the libofx I obtained, from what appeared to be the developer's site, was even necessary. I am sorry that my record keeping of this saga is non existent. The only way would be to go back and redo the whole process from scratch in order to try and find out what I did wrong. I have found that the only way to get the error I reported was to use the "open" command instead of "import", so please take this as a withdrawal of the bug report, thanks for all your trouble over this, best regards Donald. > Message Received: Oct 01 2011, 09:41 PM > From: "Jack" <ostroffjh@users.sourceforge.net> > To: don66@fsmail.net > Cc: > Subject: [Bug 276928] After upgrade to system, KMyMoney no longer recognizes *.ofx files. > > > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=276928 > > > > > > --- Comment #8 from Jack <ostroffjh users sourceforge net> 2011-10-01 20:41:24 --- > Great that you got it working. Hey - we all do something like that on occasion. Glad it's finally working for you. Someone with appropriate permissions can change the final status of this bug from WAITINGORINFO to either INVALID or WORKSFORME I suppose.
