- What I was doing when the application crashed:
logging in. Happens everytime. After the crash, the desktop is perfectly usable. Kmix crashes every time, it might be related
- Unusual behavior I noticed:
during the previous boots everything was fine until:
  - I updated the distribution (debian unstable, minor upgrades only, but can not check)
  - the computer hard crashed shortly afterwards, and I had to reboot. It is very uncommon for this system to hard crash. Happened while watching a youtube video

The crash can be reproduced every time.
