Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.2) OS: Linux New users to Marble would expect to find a Goto action (preferably with a Ctrl + G shortcut). For example, Stellarium has a Goto action to locate a star or celestial object. Granted, the navigation pane is there. So at least one can change the wording "Search" to "Goto" and make G the accelerator. My point is that one of the first things a person does upon opening an atlas or map is locating a particular location and there must be a self-evident way to do that in Marble. I am reporting this as a bug instead of wishlist as it affects usability IMHO. Thanks for all your great work! Reproducible: Always
Sorry for the extra post but I forgot another point which I wished to make. Any Goto feature should enable inputting of coordinates. While coordinates input in the format of 30.15644°E, 65.88550°N do work (but DMS doesn't work but that's another bug -- bug ) it is not self-evident that coordinates can be input in that pane because the input fields stands above a list of locations, and normally such input fields are used only for filtering. Some indication is necessary to the user that coordinates can also be input, whether you choose to implement a Goto dialog as in other applications or take the user to the navigation pane upon hitting Goto. (BTW should I report this aspect as a separate bug?)
