Description Ivan D Vasin 2011-06-21 19:08:31 UTC
Version: 2.1.0 (using KDE 4.6.4)
OS: Linux

i'm not sure how long an attachment's temporary file should stay around, but it should be at least long enough for it to open in the selected application. currently, that is not the case.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. preview a message with an attachment.
2. click on the attachment.
3. choose to open the attachment with some application.
4. quickly change the preview to a different message.

Actual Results:
1. the new message is previewed.
2. the chosen application fails to load the attachment, complaining about a missing file under /tmp.

Expected Results:
1. the new message is previewed.
2. the attachment loads in the chosen application.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.38-10-generic
Compiler: cc

I confirm this problem with KMail on KDE SC 4.9.0. KMail probably removes the downloaded attachment immediately after switching to another e-mail message.

yes normal otherwise we will have a lot of temp file.
So I can't keep them.
You switch you lose it :)

How about waiting for 30 seconds or so before removing the temporary file?

The problem is, when I'm looking through the mail switching e.g. 10 emails per second, Gwenview doesn't have a chance to open a attached image.

you're able to right click on attachment -> open with gwenview and switch 10 emails by second ? :)
Normal user make => right click -> open, look at it and switch email :)
So no valid :)

No, I click left mouse button -> Open in 'Gwenview' (that's the default action for PNG/JPG files). I can't wait another second for Gwenview to start, so I switch to other e-mails.
